KING DROID S.R.L., the developer of the DirtMap application, is committed to protecting the personal data of its users. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have regarding your data.
By using the application, you agree to the data practices described here.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account Data
- Email address and password (required for registration)
- Display name
- Profile picture (optional, uploaded by the user)
2.2 Location Data
- Real-time GPS position (to display your location on the map)
- Recorded routes and tracks (GPS logs)
- Your live position while you are in a convoy (shared with the other convoy members)
- Background location during route recording, convoy and competitions — collected even when the app is not in the foreground; indicated by a persistent notification and stoppable at any time
2.3 Competition Data
- Checkpoint visits with timestamps
- Competition results and scores
- Real-time position during a competition (visible to organizers and other participants)
- Photos taken at checkpoints
- GPS coordinates sent with SOS alerts
2.4 Vehicle Data
- Data from OBD-II adapters (speed, RPM, etc.)
- This data is stored locally on your device only and is never uploaded to our servers
2.5 Technical Data
- Device type and operating system version
- Application crash logs (for debugging purposes only)
2.6 Convoy and Communication Data
- Push-to-Talk voice messages: when you actively use the walkie-talkie feature, short voice recordings are relayed to the other members of your convoy
- Convoy membership and the live position you broadcast while the convoy is active
2.7 Photos and Trip Videos
- Photos you capture during a daily recording (or attach to a route/place) are uploaded to the backend together with their GPS location
- If you generate a trip summary video (premium), it is rendered on our backend from your recorded route and captured photos, and stored for you to download and share
2.8 Weather Data
- When you open the weather overlay or rain radar, your approximate coordinates are sent to our weather provider to return local conditions
2.9 Purchase Data
- The premium upgrade is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play; we receive confirmation of the purchase but never your payment card details
2.10 Sharing Relationships
- If you share a route or folder, we store the recipient's email address and the fact of the share so the content can be made available to them
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the collected data solely for the following purposes:
- Providing map and navigation features
- Managing user accounts
- Operating the competition system (results, leaderboard, live radar)
- Convoy / group tracking and Push-to-Talk voice messages
- Generating, on request, a trip summary video from your recorded route and photos (premium)
- Showing local weather and rain radar for your current area
- Sharing routes and folders with the users you choose
- Processing the premium upgrade
- Offline map download and management
- Identifying and fixing application errors
We do not share, sell, or use your data for advertising purposes.
4. Data Storage and Sharing
4.1 Server and Service Providers
Data is stored on a self-hosted Appwrite server located within the EU. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers. We rely on the following service providers as data processors:
- Appwrite (backend, file storage, realtime) — self-hosted on our EU infrastructure
- OpenStreetMap / Stadia Maps / Esri (map tiles — only tile coordinates are sent, no personal data)
- RainViewer (rain radar tiles)
- Open-Meteo (weather forecast — receives approximate coordinates to return local conditions)
- Apple App Store / Google Play (in-app purchase processing for the premium upgrade)
4.2 Local Storage
Route logs and offline map data are stored locally on your device. This data is deleted when the application is uninstalled.
4.3 Sharing During Competitions
During an active competition, participants' real-time positions are visible to the organizer and other participants. This feature is active only during a competition — it stops automatically when you leave the competition.

6. Your Rights
Within the application, you have the right to:
- Access your stored data
- Modify your profile information (Edit Profile)
- Delete your account and all associated data (Profile → Delete Account)
- Revoke location permission at any time in your device settings
Upon account deletion, all personal data, routes, and competition results are permanently and irreversibly deleted.

8. Children's Privacy
The application does not knowingly collect data from individuals under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a minor without parental consent, we will delete it immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy. In the event of significant changes, users will be notified within the application. The effective date of any update will always be clearly stated at the top of this document.
